Touring the Coast with Marlys and Alan

We have been touring the Oregon Coast with Marlys and Alan from Ft Collins and having a great time!! The weather was great the first day and after the 4th day, we wont talk about the days inbetween, except to say that cold, wet, windy is putting it mildly!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We managed to make the most of it tho and visited the Flavel house museum, Astoria column, Maritime museum, heritage museum and several other sites in the Astoria area.
We also were highly entertained at dinner one nite on the pier when a local fisherman caught and released a very large fish, which turned out to be a Sturgeon!!
We watched him try to bring in the fish for over 30 minutes, he measured it at 6 Ft 6 inches and estimated it to be over 100pds. We took his photo then he released the fish back to the river.
This is an ongoing trip so I will be adding to the post as the trip progresses!!

Campout at Schwartz Campground - Dorena Lake

We went with a group of RV'ers to Dorena Lake Area to check out the campground.

It is a Great campground, large and open near the Row River with plenty of room between sites. Had a great time playing games, riding bikes and eating!!

The weather was still cool, sure will be nice when summer finally arrives!! We were wondering what day it was going to occur on this year so we can have a picnic!! So much for global warming in this area.

It did stay dry for most of our trip that weekend so that was nice. The photos show us playing some golf, washer board game and just being relaxed. That is what it is all about. We had a great time!!

Memorial Weekend Trip to Medford

This is Grandpa enjoying the weekend!!

Riley picking and grinnin'

We decided to take a weekend trip to Medford before we leave on our big trip back to Nebraska/Colorado and parts to still be determined by the price of Diesel!!

We picked up our grandson, Riley, from Eugene on Friday afternoon and headed down to Medford. The weather was great but was supposed to change over the weekend to cool and rainy. We were in luck, the weather held out for the better all weekend and we had a great time. This photo is of Riley enjoying a breakfast burrito. I think he liked it!!!

We went down to Ashland on Saturday to visit Travis and take a small tour of the city. It reminded me a lot of Estes Park Colorado, kinda a tourist town with a laid back atmosphere, with a little of Boulder CO mixed in with the rest.

In Colorado we call Boulder the Republic of Boulder due to their Individualist style of thinking and "Hippie" style of thinking!! Ashland was a great town to visit and we met some really nice people there, Ramona and Christina were great to meet after hearing about them for a long time from our son, Travis.

I noticed that Riley knows how to work the cute angle with Ramona and it worked, he kinda does that to us also. Of course we know that he is cute because he takes after his Grandpa!!!

We had a great weekend but then had to head back to Lebanon so Barb could finish out her workweek at preschool and have "graduation" for the kids.

Camping at the Oregon Coast

We spent a nice weekend over at South Beach State Park on the Oregon Coast from Feb 29th thru sunday Mar 2nd. The weather was fantastic, bright and sunny, kinda cold with the breeze off the ocean but it is winter time. Shasta really enjoyed running on the beach and playing with the other dogs that get to run free on the beach. We visited Yaquina Head Lighthouse and while we were there we saw a great rainbow which is the photo posted here. I had to take 2 shots and put them together to get the rainbow to fit. We also took a drive up the coast to watch the waves crash against the rocks with the high tide coming in.

Summer 2007 Bockman with HiPlains Drifters

Some Photos of our campout with the HiPlains Drifters in July 2007 at Bockman State Forest in Colorado. This was our camping group that we belonged too while we lived in Fort Collins, CO.
We enjoy being able to hook up with them whenever we are back visiting in Colorado each summer. We are Honorary members, but are sometimes called "O'nery" by some of the other members of the group whom we wont name, right Karen!! We had a lot of fun with them last summer and hope we are able to camp with them again this summer.
